Investing in New York City’s Neighborhoods
Since 2009, we’ve put over $1.9 billion of capital to work across fifty-six projects in four boroughs. Much of this capital has been invested in underserved neighborhoods in need of long-term economic growth. Our financing is done through two companies: New York City Regional Center and NYC Regional Community Development .

New York City Regional Center invests in the building blocks of the city’s economy. We’ve funded over $1.5 billion of capital that’s spurred the construction of 5.3 million square feet of new development and renovation as well as significant infrastructure upgrades resulting in thousands of new jobs for New Yorkers. We’ve financed the construction of a broad spectrum of projects such as new film and television studios, sports arenas, large-scale public Wi-Fi networks, retail centers, office buildings, hotels, transportation facilities, infrastructure improvements, and over two million square feet of light industrial and distribution facilities.

Our mission at NYC Regional Community Development is to expand access to capital for low-income neighborhoods. We’ve provided $390 million in tax credit financing that’s funded the construction and renovation of over 1.8 million square feet of community facilities as well as thousands of hours of youth programming in areas of New York City starved for capital. We’ve financed the construction of new public charter schools, community health clinics, childcare centers, food pantries, supermarkets, and community recreation centers.

Light Industrial & Distribution
We financed the construction and redevelopment of over two million square feet of light industrial and distribution space in Brooklyn and the Bronx. Our work includes funding the construction of Fresh Direct’s 750,000 square foot processing and distribution center in the South Bronx. We’ve also provided loans for a number of light industrial buildings at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, one of the most successful urban manufacturing parks in the nation.

In a city where space is at a premium, the construction of studio facilities is critical for the film and television industry to remain a significant job creator. Since 2010, we’ve funded the expansion of Steiner Studios, New York City’s largest film and television studio complex. Our loans financed the construction of 575,000 square feet of new soundstages and production support space at the city’s first Hollywood-style and scale facility.

We fund the construction and renovation of community centers as well as after-school programs in underserved neighborhoods throughout the city. Our work includes financing building upgrades and youth programming at the Nike Track & Field Center in Washington Heights; construction of the Major Owens Health and Wellness Community Center in Brooklyn; construction of Make the Road’s new community center in Queens; community programing and facility upgrades for The Town Hall, a national historic landmark in Manhattan; and the development of the National Urban League Empowerment Center in Harlem.
